Christmas Eve 2008

So, I posted most of the Christmas photos from Christmas Eve at our house on Shutterfly. I will add more later. I didn't take as many because I got sick of experiencing Morgan's first Christmas behind a lens. When I am rich I will hire a Jehovah Witness to photograph the Holidays for us.

Here is my favorite photo from Christmas Eve. Morgan sleeping in front of our Christmas Tree after an exciting evening of meeting Santa and opening presents.

Oh Christmas Tree...

xmas grump face

Morgan xmas 2008

So, last night Steve and I tried to get some xmas pictures of Morgan in front of the tree however he had other plans. Every time Steve stuck him in front of the tree he would start crying. Steve tried dancing, singing, clapping, even flinging poor Necrobutcher through the air all to no avail. I did manage to get a couple shots where he wasn't crying and the one above is probably the best one and still not what we would have liked. We even let him have a nap and when he got up and seemed happy we tried again but it was like a switch that immediately turned on the grump.

Last week we went out to the Skagit Valley to catch the sunset at this wildlife reserve so that I could take some pictures here are a couple that I took. The first time we were there two Bald eagles were on the beach and flew right over our heads to their nest in a tree right on the road by us.

Literally I took this first picture above and then turned around and walked 10 feet and took this one. It is amazing out there.

Merry Christmas!

Morgan's first xmas

Blue Eyes and Santa Hat

Tuesday was Morgan's 4 month Birthday! I can't believe it. He is teething pretty badly lately his mouth is like a drooly faucet and his hands are constantly stuffed in his mouth. He now officially rolls over and scoots around on the floor. He has also decided to commandeer his bottle which has been interesting. He doesn't have complete control yet so it's been a struggle with little baby hands and finger death grips.

Today he had his 4 month check-up and vaccinations. He weighs over 15 pounds and is 26 inches long with a 17.5 inch head! His head size is literally off the charts compared to the national average of infants his age; I am hoping it's because he has a giant brain. He is also apparently really long which probably means he's going to be a big guy like his dad. He chatted it up the whole time at the Dr's except for the few seconds of crying after the shots which he recovered from really quickly this time. I braved it out and stayed with him and Steve in the room during the shots which was hard.

On a different note, I can't wait for Christmas it's going to be a lot of fun this year with my family and we are having a surprise guest which I am really excited about! Taking pictures with the little monkey is quite different now compared to just a month ago. Before I could just sit him in one place and that was it but not anymore he was rolling around, scooting away, and reallly really wiggly! I will now leave you with this last photo to ponder...

Thanksgiving 2008

This is my favorite shot from Thanksgiving so I had to post it first thing ;) Tracie please don't hate me!

Thanksgiving was a bunch of fun. Morgan did really good through the whole thing! There were lots of people to get attention from all day and I think he was in withdrawal for a couple days after. He got a little grumpy in the later evening but he was pretty tired. I didn't get a shot of him in his Thanksgiving outfit so I will add one later. Dinner was awesome one of the best as far as the vegetarian side goes. I made a Mushroom Barley Wild Rice stuffing which was delicious(tasted just like my grandma's except no giblets)and we had a vegetarian field roast which my mom called Road kill but it was really tasty. I heard the Turkey was good too.

Steve and I took a bunch of photos on our new little Nikon Coolpix so I made a new photo page on shutterfly.com to download them to since they are all point and shoot shots. Click the link and you can view the Thanksgiving 2008 photo album which has lots of funny shots like the one above of the fun we had. I am still adding to it so check back to it in the next couple days for more shots. I am super impressed with Shutterfly actually. It is a great way to share photos and make family updates at the same time I might just switch to that. Also, anyone can add photos to the photo albums on my site so if you want to share a shot you can. I am going to reserve my Flickr page for my nice cameras and keep the shutterfly.com page for family shots. I know it's getting confusing, right?!

I think my favorite part of our family tradition on Thanksgiving is at night. We always watch a movie and everyone spends the night. This year our upstairs is under construction so it was a giant slumber party in my living room. Every inch was covered in bedding, people, and dogs. A lot of the shots on shutterfly are of the preparation of the beds. Kevin brought a dollar store blow up air mattress thingy that you put in pools. He called it Brenda his blow up doll, I thought I was going to die laughing as they tried blowing it up. Anyway, I think the pictures tell the story. I really had a good time on Thanksgiving; I laughed a ton and got to spend it with my family. I feel very lucky.
